Dark hotel corridor at night

Paranormal Lockdown at the Crescent Hotel

The Paranormal Lockdown event at the Crescent Hotel & Spa runs annually on Halloween night, giving investigators access to the building from 10pm to 3am. Participants are divided into small groups and rotated through the hotel's most active areas — the morgue, the third floor, the conservatory, and several individual rooms — with a guide and access to basic investigative equipment.

I attended the October 2024 event with a small group of four. We began in the basement morgue, which is where most investigators expect the most activity. What we found there was interesting but not dramatic — some temperature fluctuations, a few ambiguous EVP responses, the general atmosphere of a room that has seen a great deal of suffering. The kind of place that feels heavy regardless of what you believe.

The third floor was different. Our group was assigned to the hallway between rooms 306 and 310 for the second rotation. Within a few minutes of settling in, two members of our group independently reported seeing something at the far end of the hallway — a dark shape, roughly human in outline, that appeared and disappeared in the space of a few seconds. I did not see it myself, but the reactions of the two witnesses were immediate and unambiguous.

We spent the remainder of our time in Room 306 itself. The EVP session produced several responses that the guide described as unusually clear. One response, when asked if anyone was present, sounded distinctly like the word 'yes.' Another, when asked for a name, produced a sound that several of us heard as a two-syllable word, though we couldn't agree on what it was.

The third floor hallway has a quality that's difficult to articulate — not frightening exactly, but deeply, persistently wrong.

The event ended at 3am. I returned to my room at the Basin Park Hotel — Room 306, as it happened — and what occurred there in the early morning hours became its own archive entry. The two experiences, separated by a few miles and a few hours, felt connected in a way I still haven't fully resolved.
