Basin Park Room 306

Room 306 isn’t typically one of the rooms that comes up often when talking about the most active rooms at the Basin Park Hotel. Generally on the 3rd floor, its the hall way and rooms 307 to 310 with people seeing cowboy type apparitions standing next to their beds. 306 does have its own reports of activity however with the most common being things turning off or on by themselves.

Room 306 is actually the one room at the Basin Park where I had an experience the left me with chills at 5am one morning. I was participating in the Paranormal Lockdown at the Cresent hotel that night. The event ended at 3am and I had returned to my room at the Basin, room 306.

I settled down and turned my lights off at about 4am and drifted off to sleep pretty quickly as I don’t normally stay up that late. Suddenly I was awakened but the big overhead light in my room coming on. It was on for a few seconds and then very slowly dimmed until it was completely dark again.

I didnt get up, didnt investigate, just laid there and eventually fell back asleep. The odd thing is this reminded me of something when I had arrived in the room earlier the day before. When I entered the room, they had lamps on but the big overhead light was off. As I started preparing my camera equipment for the lockdown, I needed more light than what the lamps were providing so I went to turn on the big light. The only thing was, the light switch was already in the on position. I had to turn it off, then back on, and the light came on and said on until I turned it off a short time later.

Flash forward back to the morning after the light turned on by itself, when I got up and went to actually turn the light on, the switch was again in the on position. This was 100% not like that when I went to bed as I had to turn the light off by moving the switch to the down position. This could be chalked up as an electrical issue, but it still leaves room to wonder about the switch physically changing position with me being the only one in the room. One can only assume the light blasting me in my sleep was connected to this light switch changing positions.
